Cynthia Marie Bogues
Boston, MA
Cynthia "Samm" Bogues was born in
Boston, Ma. She attended the Jeremiah Burke High School, Museum
Fine Arts' after school/summer program and holds an Associates Degree
from Mount Ida College/Chamberlayne Jr.College's Art& Design - course.
Her vision is to create art that changes the way that people think
(or don't think) about social issues, such as, domestic violence,
child abuse, tolerance of racial and alternative lifestyle differences,
self empowerment, and unconditional love.
Creative experience:
- Custom-design and hand-paint clothing for fashion
shows and individuals.
- Conceive and illustrate logos and ads local organizations
and businesses.
- Second place award winner for hand-painted designs,
modeled at the "Design Vision Showcase"-benefit to aid domestic
violence prevention programs.
- Developed the "Unconditional Loveline". A series
of illustrations addressing issues of child abuse, domestic violence,
racism, sexual abuse, tolerance of differences and unconditional
love. Published in the Dorchester Community News.
- Contracted to assist in design and paint a 50'x
15' wall mural at Club Europa, in Boston.
- Contracted to recreate logo as a 10' x 4' wall
mural Duck Soup Comedy Club in Boston.
- Conceived, designed and illustrated mural on
racial harmony,which received media coverage during Channel 5'
s "World of a Difference" campaign.
- Danced with "Universal Soul" dancers at the Roxy,
Avalon, The Palace and other club venues, around Boston, for eight
years: Opened shows for Teena Marie, Kool & the Gang; Crystal
Waters, Boy George and various club track acts.
